St. Joseph Community Kitchen
St. Joseph Community Kitchen started in August 1985. The kitchen has served over 400,000 meals since its beginning. We average 19 volunteers ready, willing and able to serve every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 pm to 5:35 pm. Doors open at 3 pm. The kitchen is closed only on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those special holidays are recognized but a special meal is served prior to each respective holiday. Contact Jeanne Smith for more information at 541-679-9682 or 541-673-5157 if you want to volunteer!
St. Francis Xavier Community Kitchen
The first meal was served on March 30, 2004 at St. Francis Community Kitchen. This was after a year of preparatory work done by parishioners of St. Francis Catholic Church who saw the need for this service. The church already had the kitchen and hall facilities to handle this service for the community.
Free full course hot meals are served every Monday and Wednesday evening from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
The community kitchen has about 45 volunteers who help make this program efficient. We are always in need of volunteers who can help out. There are three areas in which the volunteers work: food preps, food servers and clean up. If you are interested in helping, please call Francis at 541-459-1371 or Theresa Kirkpatrick at 541-459-3156 or 459-4186. Most volunteers work once or twice a month.
St. Francis Xavier Community Kitchen meals are served on Mondays & Wednesdays at 4:30 pm in the Robert Steele Memorial Hall.
